The all-you-can-eat experience: ordering via tablet in restaurants

Tablet ordering concept with all-you-can-eat function

In many all-you-can-eat restaurants, especially in Asian cuisine, traditional paper ordering is a thing of the past. Instead, many restaurants have switched to interactive tablets that give guests control over their orders. Service staff hand guests a tablet at the table instead of a traditional menu.

This concept allows guests to order their meals in specific time intervals, ensuring efficient processing. It also prevents guests from ordering too much at once. This is great fun for guests: since only drinks are billed separately, there are no price surprises. Everyone knows the best moment of a restaurant visit is when the food or drink arrives at the table.

In all-you-can-eat restaurants that use table service and tablet ordering instead of a buffet, these moments happen constantly. This alone makes the visit a real experience.

The advantages of tablet ordering in all-you-can-eat restaurants

  • Time management: The time-limited ordering function on the tablets optimizes the waiting time between ordering rounds. Guests make their selection at short intervals, leading to a faster and smoother experience.

  • Individual control: Each guest manages their orders independently. This allows for a personalized experience, as guests can consider their own preferences and eating habits.

  • Avoiding over-ordering: Blocking the ordering function for a short period after each round prevents guests from ordering more dishes impulsively. This helps reduce food waste and encourages more conscious ordering.

How does it work exactly?

First, the menu clearly defines which products count as all-you-can-eat options. Generally, drinks are not included in the all-you-can-eat mode.

Using the round function, you can set how many items each person can order per round and the intervals between orders. This ensures that guests cannot order too much at once and that every guest receives their food in a reasonable time.

All-You-Can-Eat Menu Settings

If a guest chooses the all-you-can-eat offer, they inform the service staff on arrival. The staff then activates the all-you-can-eat feature for the table and hands over the tablet. At the same time, the POS automatically creates a receipt for the all-you-can-eat price.

AYCE-Settings

Guests select items via the tablet, and the system records all-you-can-eat items round by round. Each round represents an independent order. Items not included in the all-you-can-eat offer are billed normally. The system creates a separate receipt for the table for each round.

When leaving the restaurant, you simply leave or hand over the tablet and pay the bill by card, cash, or QR code. The tablet is then available for the next customer.
